-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SIGHTINGS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mystery Contrails Said Analyzed To Be Ehtlyene Dibromide By Jhan Davis 2-1-99 Ethylene Dibromide Follow-Up Dear Jeff - Your website viewers may be interested in this EDB followup. We shouldn't be too hasty to conclude that our government is trying to exterminate us with ethylene dibromide (EDB). Our government has been known to make mistakes, big ones, without malice, and this is just one more of them. Occam's Razor points out a logical, simpler and less sinister explanation for the use of such a compound. For many years, the cloud seeder of choice was Silver Iodide, which was both expensive and produced less than optimal results. I believe that the origins of the health problem we're seeing with ethylene dibromide (as a seeder) can be resolved by a quick glance at the Periodic Table of Elements. Bromine sits directly above Iodine on the chart, which translates into very nearly identical chemical properties for the two elements. In its haste to engineer the weather, our government scientists would be driven by the periodic table to look for cheaper ways to create rain on demand, and that would instantly cause the scientists to select and test a (preferably already existing) bromine compound. Plus, the scientists would conclude prior to testing that the chemically lighter bromine compound just might diffuse better, form a condensate nucleus better and ultimately cause more precipitation than the old silver iodide. Mark this up to more government failure to test the product for its intended use before overpurchasing. Are we seeing more precipitation as a result of these tests? (OOPS!) And it would make sense to a government which overpurchased to dump the stuff in the sky where again the scientists would have told you that it would diffuse so as to be ineffective at ground level. They didn't take into account the tendency of the stuff to form glops and clobber pedestrians after being combined with JP-8 exhaust products which leave the final compressor stage at elevated temperatures. You can usually follow the money trail to the source of a government snafu. Now for the clincher. Some of your readers are claiming relief from their ethylene dibromide poisoning by ingesting silver compounds. Remember Silver Iodide? Well, it makes as much sense to bind your (unintentionally) extra bromine to silver as it did to bind iodine to silver for the original cloud seeder. Silver bromide is the result, and your system will eliminate it just as it will any other unnecessary chemical compound. But, your system will have a difficult time with any extra silver you ingest over and above the amount needed to bind the bromine in your system. Please let your readers know that overdoses of heavy metals can cause them as many problems as the bromine compound that got them into respiratory distress in the first place. Only ingest heavy metal compounds as prescribed by a licensed physician and after ethylene dibromide poisoning has been confirmed--which is not an "at the Doctor's office test" as explained by the fact sheet below ! However, your patients may wish to steer their Doctor towards a test for excessive bromine after exposure to the falling goop (as opposed to just assuming they've got the flu) because this stuff is so difficult to detect once it gets into your system. You may also wish to advise your readers to inform their elected representatives that the bromine compounds belong in certain over-the-counter medications--not as an aerosol to be administered in a medically uncontrolled environment such as walking down the street. The ethylene dibromide page will further interest your readers: http://atsdr1.atsdr.cdc.gov:8080/tfacts37.html - Jhan Davis ---- The lab director of Aqua-tech Environmental using samples taken from JP-8 contaminated fields of Maryland and Pennsylvania, reported today (9/18/97) that ethylene dibromide, otherwise known as EDB, has been the contaminate in the fuel and water samples submitted by farmers, pilots and tanker drivers. EDB is one of the most tightly controlled EPA substances and was banned in 1983 due to its carcinogenieity. EDB is a pesticide that apparently is being placed in the jet fuel and dispersed on a daily, almost non-stop basis in our skies. The lines filling our skies are not contrails. The lines are dispersed and may linger for hours, slowly filtering down to unsuspecting pests, and I guess we're the PESTS. Water samples are contaminated with EDB and crops are dying. EDB is just one more avenue for the N-O folks to starve us to death and make us ill by weakening our already compromised immune systems. Exposure to this toxic chemical may lead to ca-- er, liver and kidney damage, pulmonary edema, damage to a developing fetus and reproductive organs of both men and women. Let's not forget that the chemical may also cause sterility. Doesn't that fit into their plan for population control? They have really found the perfect chemical. EDB is a carcinogen and a mutagen that may also cause eye and skin irritation, cardiopulmonary arrest, and binds to DNA. Skin blisters and respiratory failure are other conditions caused by ethylene dibromide. The conditions are too numerous to list but this will give you an idea of problems caused by this chemical. EDB is a carcinogen at any exposure level and humans are more susceptible than animals to the acute toxic affects. This does not mean that it will not kill animals. We have reports from California and Wyoming of the birds dying. Ethylene dibromide was used in leaded gasoline until 1983 to remove lead from engines and was found in engine exhaust. This chemical is a heavy liquid with a chloroform-like odor that becomes a gas at temperatures greater than 40 degrees F. The higher the temperature it is dispersed at the more toxic It becomes, therefore dispersing from a jet would be ideal, The compound is stable, meaning it does not easily decompose. This would account for the substance staying in the sky for long periods of time. EDB is only slightly soluble in water, but dissolves easily in organic solvents. JP-8 Is considered an organic solvent. A water sample from rain would be an excellent way to verify contamination and a fuel sample so much the better. Please note that EDB is a colorless liquid, with a sweet odor, however no smell does not mean you are not being exposed. Substances are also added that counteract the smell. Pilots please note that dispersing JP-8, along with these toxic chemicals is killing people. You are not counteracting any type of biological that has been spread, or any antidote of anytype. We now have proof that our gove--ent is using chemical agents on populated areas they are adding it to military jet fuel. Have you ever looked up at a vapor trail behind military aircraft flying so high a symbol of Ame-ica's power. Look again!! Commerical jets also leave a lovely (non-toxic) vapor trail when the heat from the turbines come in contact with the cool air, condensing the water droplets into steam. Softly the lines diffuse into the blue sky. So what is different about the military aircraft? The answer is simple. It's the Fuel JP-8+100 is some really bad stuff. When you look up over the skys of New York City on a clear, sunny morning you see the military aircraft making patterens across the sky with their vapor trails. The smoke is thick and does not go away. When it comes in contact with the sunlight it turns to a purple color, then dissipates into an overcast Purple Haze. So what is this Purple Haze? A fuel sample of JP-8+100 was taken to an independent lab (NON GOV-RMENT FUNDED) and broken down. The sample revealed two toxic substances. 1. Ethlyene Di Bromide 2. Zinc Chloride 1. EDB attacks the Liver, Lungs , and Skin, causing liver damage, Lung and skin C--cer. Also, EDB lowers the immune system by depleting the body of B vitamins and zinc. Answer to the problem--use a B Complex vitamin and Zinc. 2. We don't know the effects of Zinc Chloride yet. ______________ Date: Sat, 30 Jan 1999 08:28:31 -0800 (PST) From: johnfwin@mlode.com (John F.
